OK: let me complain a little up front: spiders are supposed to have 8 legs--I can only count 7. Even if I allow for the point of view, I cannot make out the 8th leg on the left side of the image.

Second, I cannot tell if she is crying, has hair streaming, or some sort of facial tattoo. I increased the size of the image to see if I could make sense, but I could not.

The hand holding the sword suggests a lack of detail which, as you suggest, dates this work to early in your career. To be frank: this hand and sword hilt look like it has been Photoshopped into this image. It simple does not look organic.

Now the applause: I don't recall seeing an image of a woman's body and a spider's lower torso. This image is rich with black widow suggestions, even tho' she is a blonde.

The detail below her waist is particularly evocative. Tho' clearly a spider, there is an echo of her vulva which I find particularly appealing (I am a lesbian, so you can understand this assertion). Tho' the face seems a bit cartoonish--as well as the hand and hilt--this level of detail along with the upper torso seems particularly organic to me. . . .

I like this image in its theme and vision--and it does reflect an artist struggling with some details, but foreshadows a huge potential for success.
